IM NOT A CONTRIBUTOR BUT I WANT TO HELP PROMOTE THIS PROJECT, WHAT CAN I DO?
Interacting with us on Twitter and sharing our posts are great ways to help support this project. Sharing and/or contributing to the Kickstarter when its live are also extremely helpful ways to show your support for this project!
WILL THE PROJECT STATE SPECIFICALLY WHICH MINORITIES THE WRITERS FALL UNDER?
No! to respect everyones privacy there wont be a specific place in the zine where we list everyones races and who does/doesnt fall under LGBTQ+ categories. There may be a tiny section for each writer to include a small bio about themselves, but we'll leave it up to each individual to share what theyre comfortable sharing.
DO YOU ONLY DO HORROR ANTHOLOGIES?
No. We plan to create a wide range of genre anthologies. Our first project is horror, but writers have the freedom to also pick a sub-genre. For example, you can mix horror and fantasy or horror and sci-fi. As for future projects, our main genre will vary!
WHAT DO I GET FOR CONTRIBUTING?
Everyone who takes part in one of our projects gets a free copy of the magazine/book and any included merch.
I'M NOT A MEMBER OF THE LGBTQ+ OR BIPOC COMMUNITIES. CAN I STILL JOIN?
No. We are only representing these marginalised communities. However, anyone is free to pledge to our Kickstarter to get their hands on our anthologies and merch.
WHAT TIMEZONE ARE THE ADMINISTRATORS WORKING IN?
All deadlines will be posted in EST
WILL WE BE CREDITED FOR OUR WORK?
Of course! Your name and socials will be attached to your story, AND you'll all be featured on a big list somewhere in the anthology and on this site.
WAIT, AREN'T WE DONATING TO CHARITY?
Yes! It won't be mentioned anywhere in the Kickstarter because charity donations violate their TOS. However, once manufacturing and shipping costs are taken care of, we will be donating to a charity agreed upon by the participating creatives.
HOW MANY WORDS SHOULD MY STORY BE?
We aim for each short story to be no less than 3k words and no more than 5k words. Small deviations from this word count may be acceptable, and if you feel your work may end up being an exception, hit up a mod in the discord server!
I WANNA DO MY OWN THING! CAN I FOLLOW THE BEAT OF MY OWN DRUM?
We don't want to stifle anyone's creativity, but please aim for a clear story structure for your piece. Prose is welcome on a case-by-case basis, don't be afraid to ask a mod!
WILL THERE BE ART?
Each story will have a dedicated title page with some related imagery. We're considering adding merch (bookmarks, stickers, etc) for the Kickstarter, but as of right now, the mods are taking care of all the visuals. However, future projects may also call for artists!
HOW WEIRD AM I ALLOWED TO GET WITH MY WRITING?
Depends on what you mean by weird! While we ask for all writers to be 18+, we're not interested in featuring explicitly sexual scenes in any of the stories. Fade to black is okay though. Gore is okay! Sexual assault is not okay! Cannibalism is okay! If you have any questions feel free to hit up a mod.
ARE ALL OF YOUR PROJECTS NON-PROFIT, OR WILL THERE BE PAID OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATIVES?
Currently, all proceeds are going to charity. However, we might run paid opportunities in the future.
IS FANFICTION ALLOWED?
No! To avoid legal issues please only include original characters, settings, etc.
